The web page was down for almost 9 hours the other day and the boss was really about to blow his stack when he found out. He called me up in the middle of the night, apparently he had waken up and checked his email. Of course we were supposed to have backup hosting, but that was down as well. It was a good thing that it was not during a busy time of the day. This started around 10 PM at night and it was back on the web early the next morning around seven o’clock. It was not that bad so far as the business was concerned. We had one client who noticed it and sent us an email. He was not all that upset about it, because it was not a huge inconvenience to him. He did want us to fix it and asked us why the backup was not working. Of course we wondered that ourselves and asked the hosting service this very question The answer they gave did not please the boss in the least. In fact I pretty much doubt that there was much that they could have told him which would have pleased him. He was in a really bad mood to start out and this just set him off for some reason. I did not think that it was a big deal, but in fact you really want a hosting service which is going to keep your site on the web almost all of the time. Around 99 percent of the time is what most of them are going to aim for. They know that you expect them to keep the site up. The bottom line is that as soon as he hung up the phone he told me to find someone to replace them.
